Municipal, Provincial, Federal Representatives
Municipal: Ward 5, Councillor, Eli El-Chantiry
Elected to City Council in November 2003, Eli El-Chantiry is also the proprietor of the Lighthouse Restaurant in Constance Bay, and well-known throughout West Carleton for his extensive community involvement. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre and worked with a number of local groups who need help - including our community centres, churches, the Legion and seniors groups and was honoured by the citizens of West Carleton in 2001 by being named West Carleton’s “Citizen of the Year."
Eli El-Chantiry's Councillor’s Office is located on the second floor of Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West [at Laurier Avenue and Elgin Street] and his ward office is in the Kinburn Client Service Centre at 5670 Carp Rd [corner of Carp Rd and Kinburn Side Rd]. Eli is often at the Kinburn Ward Office on Fridays as that is a more convenient location for many residents to meet him.
Provincial: Lanark-Carleton, MPP, Norman Sterling
Norm Sterling has lived his entire life, and raised his family, in Eastern Ontario. He was first elected to the Ontario Legislature in 1977 and currently represents the riding of Carleton-Mississippi Mills.
Norm has been a strong advocate for increasing the role of the duly elected representatives at Queen’s Park. He has a record of delivering reforms that have increased the influence of both individual MPPs and the public in the Ontario Legislature. That’s why, on November 6, 2003, he was named as the opposition critic for democratic renewal.
Federal: The Honourable Gordon O'Connor
Appointed Minister of National Revenue by Prime Minister Stephen Harper on August 14, 2007, the Honourable Gordon O’Connor was first elected to the House of Commons in 2004 and re-elected in 2006 in the riding of Carleton-Mississippi Mills. He was appointed to Cabinet on February 6, 2006 as Minister of National Defence.
